International Journal of Judicial Law

Editorial Policies

International Journal of Judicial Law (IJJL)
Editorial Independence and Integrity

The International Journal of Judicial Law (IJJL) operates under a strict policy of editorial independence. The Editor-in-Chief (EiC) has full authority over the editorial content of the journal and the timing of publication.

  1. Objectivity: Decisions to edit, accept, or reject manuscripts are based solely on the quality of the research, legal reasoning, and its relevance to the journal’s scope.

  2. Non-Discrimination: Editorial decisions are never influenced by the author's race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.

  3. Commercial Influence: Advertisers or sponsors have no influence on editorial decisions.

Authorship and Contributorship Criteria

IJJL follows the standard criteria for authorship to ensure transparency in research contributions. An "Author" is someone who:

  1. Has made significant contributions to the conception, design, or execution of the legal study.

  2. Has drafted the manuscript or revised it critically for important intellectual content.

  3. Has given final approval of the version to be published.

Conflict of Interest (COI) Policy

To maintain public trust in the judicial research published, all parties involved (Authors, Editors, and Reviewers) must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

  1. Authors: Must disclose any financial support (grants, law firm sponsorships) or personal relationships that could bias their work.

  2. Reviewers: Must recuse themselves if they have a professional or personal connection with the author that could compromise an objective evaluation.

  3. Editors: If an Editor submits a paper to the journal, the entire process is handled by an independent Guest Editor to avoid "Self-citation" bias.

Double-Blind Peer Review Policy

Our review process is the backbone of our quality control.

  1. All manuscripts undergo a Double-Blind review where neither the author nor the reviewer knows each other's identity.
  2. Every article is evaluated by a minimum of two independent subject-matter experts.
  3. The Editorial Board monitors reviewer reports to ensure they are professional, constructive, and free of bias.
Plagiarism and Research Misconduct

IJJL maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding research misconduct.

  1. Screening: Every manuscript is checked via iThenticate® or Turnitin®.

  2. Threshold: A similarity index above 15% (excluding references) is generally flagged for rejection or major revision.

  3. Redundant Publication: Authors must not submit a manuscript that is already published or under consideration elsewhere (Salami Slicing).

  4. Data Fabrication: Any suspicion of fabricated legal data or forged case law citations will lead to immediate rejection and reporting to the author's institution.

Open Access and Copyright (CC BY 4.0)

IJJL is a Gold Open Access journal, meaning all content is freely available without charge to the user or their institution.

  1. Licensing: We use the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.

  2. Author Rights: Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication.

  3. Self-Archiving: Authors are encouraged to deposit their published PDF in institutional repositories (e.g., SSRN, ResearchGate) to increase visibility.

Post-Publication Corrections and Retractions

The scholarly record must be accurate.

  1. Erratum/Corrigendum: If a minor honest error is discovered after publication, a correction notice will be published.

  2. Retractions: Following COPE Retraction Guidelines, an article will be retracted if there is clear evidence of unreliable findings, plagiarism, or unethical research. The original article will remain but will be clearly marked as "Retracted."

  1. Transparency: All fees related to publishing are clearly stated on the "Fees" page.

  2. Editorial Shielding: The editorial team is not involved in the collection of fees to ensure that payment does not influence the acceptance of a paper.
